A lesson in history
The story revolves around the attempted assasination of Adolf Hitler in 1944. Tom Cruise plays a colonel who returns from Africa, and as circumstances would have, to lead the German Resistance to overthrow Hitler. Well, if you had paid attention during your history class, you would have found out the 'spolier' in this movie's ending. Valkyrie was really a passable film but not exciting enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Did not find it gritty enough and definitely one of the poorer showings of director Bryan Singer who has come up with several hits in his past films. Maybe the film did not portray why Colonel Stranffenberg's or the Resistance's strong motivation in killing Hitler that I found myself feeling detached from the characters. With a whole slew of box office hits hitting the screens during the Oscars period, I'd given this a miss and wait for the DVD.

If you're looking for a movie that is both entertaining and helpful for your history lesson, then go watch Bryan Singer's Valkyrie. This version of Valkyrie isn't as 'heavy' as the other versions and surprisingly exciting enough to keep your eyes open the whole time. While there's nothing significant or to be bragged of from this movie, Valkyrie is still highly well-presented. The costume design is notable, the production design is amazing as well, and the drama is... so unforgettable. There are so many memorable scenes in the movie you'll think and reflect about how cruel a war was back in 1940s. Go watch if you like Tom Cruise and if you like a movie with dark theme, high intensity and exciting.

What I loved most: great acting
It's not an action-packed movie, it's based on history, but it's not boring. You will not feel that it's 2 hours long. Tom Cruise's popularity may have fallen recently due to talks about his behavior on TV etc but he still is a good actor. Not just a pretty face and always wearing a sunny smile. Well, I don't remember he actually smiles in the movie. The side stories about the star undoubtedly has undermined his talent. I'm not a big fan of Cruise but personally think that this movie should not be ignored. There're many who play great in Valkyrie. Please give it a chance!

What I loved most: The tension
What I really hated: none
Man, while I was watching this movie the time actually flew by. The story, acting, music.. I mean everything was perfectly done and kept me interested throughout the movie. The drama is so intense. This is a must see.
By the way, ignore those history-people who criticize this movie for accuracies and just enjoy the movie as it is....
