This was a funny movie, much funnier than expected. A nice mix of low brow and witty humour that didn't come across as trying too hard. Steve Carrell is almost the perfect actor to play maxwell smart, everything comes across as believable. They even manage to factor in a plot twist at the end which i honestly didn't see coming. Good, funny movie.. 4 stars!
It was a well panned out storyline, with a lot of well timed jokes and appealed to both the young and old. I felt the cultural references were pretty good and suitable and the main character was very likable. You know you're not in for anything intelligent or complex, and in that aspect the movie did its job well. Very easily one of the better movies I've seen all year.
I hadn't seen the first Narnia and hence can't compare the 2 movies, but I found this installment pretty good. It has a heartwarming story, coupled with good acting and a mix of british and american humour. The "epic" battles were a tad drawn out but they were pretty well crafted at creating atmosphere. Overall, a typical 4 star movie, in my opinion
I thought the whole movie was deceptively clever, starting with a run and ending with another, much like the title. There's a bit of british comedy slightly diluted with american humour, which makes for quite an interesting show. Its certainly not one of simon pegg's best, but the plot was good enough to keep us entertained for the whole duration. A bit heartwarming, a bit funny, a bit touching, and pretty good.
I recently rented the movie to find out what the whole hysteria and critical acclaim was all about. Going into the show I had pretty high expectations and certainly wasn't disappointed. The director took a wonderful yet true(realistic) story, and moulded it into a storytelling masterpiece with breathtaking visuals. There's even a little twist in the end, but raving about that small point would be disrespectful to the show. I can't say enough how brilliant this show is, its less complex but just as stunning as another well directed story, memento. A MUST WATCH.
It was a boring show, predictable plot with poor direction. You almost felt like a prophet watching the show as you predicted scene after scene what was going to happen. It's as if hollywood mass produces these shows from a factory. The only bright spark was Mr. Kutcher, who's proving his chops as an actor and actually seems like a nice person in real life. Ho-hum
