A classic haunted house story needs no further explanation, especially when the house is the venue where senaces were conducted, people killed and buried or kept in. Based on a true story, I can't help but feel really sorry for the unwitting family that had to move in due to circumstances. Nice effects and sounds make the movie nail-bittingly thrilling. The story was not too far-fetched and used the same scare tactics. The only drawback for me was the ectoplasm bit which looked a little fake. Otherwise one of the better horror movies of 2009 to sit through.

What I loved most: The final showdown
An attractive temp (Ali Larter) develops more than a crush on one of her married top executives (Idris Elba) and makes her moves on him through calculated devious means, incurring the wrath of his spouse (Beyonce Knowles). The plot can be too realistic and predictble for you to dismiss watching Obsessed but the 3 actors playing the 3 main characters makes it palatable enough to sit through it. Beyonce fans will watch it for her and detractors who catch the movie so that they can diss her performance should be disappointed as she plays the steadfast, tortured and pained housewife with much conviction and without much "hoochie-ness" or diva-ness (i.e. no waving finger, talk-to-my-hand gestures). Ali Larter, from hit sitcom Heroes, slips into her role like a glove as the much hated character in the movie, so much so that I think many in the audience just wanted to wrangle her neck and pull her hair (at least I did!). The desire to do so was fulfilled as I watched the 2 female leads finally meet near the end of the movie and a bloodly brawl ensued. If Beyonce was a boy, it would not be as entertaining as nothing beats 2 women dukeing it out. Not an original story nor an Oscar performance but still watchable if you like stalker-thrillers (3.5 stars!)

Personally I didn't enjoy part 2 as much as the original and thought part 3 would not be any better but I stand corrected. The story picks up with an expecting Ellie carrying Mannie's child and how the rest of the group were grasping with family and herd issues. Diego, the sabretooth tiger, decides to leave the group in search of his own adventure when he realises than Mannie's priority will change when Ellie gives brith. Sid, the sloth, clearly inspired "adopts" 3 eggs which turns out to be dino eggs and when their real mother comes in search for her babies, takes Sid along into the secret underground world filled with dinosaurs. The whole gang moves out in search to rescue Sid and meets Buck the weasel who helps them in their adventure. Clearly a straightforward and predictable plot but what matters was the journey and not the end cos in Ice Age 3, the journey was filled with jokes, laughter and hilarity. I used to dislike Sid and found him anything but funny. However, everyone was funnier in this one, even Sid. The introduction of Buck the weasel was a breath of fresh air, not too overwhelming and interaction with the original herd ensued much laughter. They have also intergated Scoot's search for the elusive acron into the main story and made it less random than the first 2 movies. Suited for kids and adults, Ice Age 3 will give the much needed ice-cold relief in this hot summer season.

What I really hated: Length of movie, "Mystique" transformer?!?
A total visual delight is what Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is. The battle scenes were amazing and grander than before. With the introduction of more Autobots and Deceptions, more exciting battle scenes ensues. Especially loved the self-sacrifical solo battle of Optimus Prime. What marred the movie experience was the weak plot and maybe too many unwarranted scenes between Sam and his gf and family (though some of it were funny). The story centres around the revealation that Sam had unknowingly found out the map to another energy source on Earth and the Deceptions try to kill Sam in order to attain the knowledge. This soon became kinda like a secondary plot when the later half of the movie seemed to focus more on saving Optimus Prime. Also found that there weren't enough introduction of the new Transformers (that was present in the first movie) eg. Devastator etc unless you're hardcore Transformers fan, you'll find too many vehicles and will be a little lost. More action, less talk and keep the visuals coming. Soundtrack's worth checking out too.

Whoever said there cannot be love between 2 straight man? I Love You Man brings you a refreshing story of a guy that is going to get engaged and realises he doesn't have a male best friend to be his best man. So does that make him gay?! He then tries to follow the male bonding rituals with hilarious results and of course help from his gay brother and overzealous mother didn't help too. Eventual chemistry sparked between Peter, the lead role, and Sydney, quite a bummer and soon they were hanging out and jamming to their fav band. However, this led to some tension to the hetreosexual relationship and things soon fall apart. If you are thinking that this movie is filled with too many gay jokes, you're be surprised (sure there are a few here and there) cos the jokes and humour in this movie are not so-in-your-face but dervied from the lines and awkward situations presented. An enjoyable movie that will have u smiling till the end. Now, excuse me while I'll call my bud to hangout at the spa.

What I really hated: Annoying girl on the webcam
What seems an ordinary day turns out to an exciting and event one for Garber, a once top man in USA's transport industry as he mans the despatch control centre of the subway system when he was suspected of taking bribes and suspended. John Travolta plays the ruthless, non-nonsense hijacker of the subway train in question. Racing against time to save the hostages and to bring the money to the anatagonists, 123 does well with the acting of both leads as well as James Gandolfini who carry the plot and movie which would otherwise have been quite run-of-the-mill.
