What I loved most: Awesome Visual Effects
I really enjoyed this movie! As a sci-fi fan, I haven't been impressed with a lot of movies in the genre as of late. Good thing District 9 came along-- this film reminds me of how cool sci-fi movies can really be if executed properly.
I won't summarize the plot again, as other reviews have already done this. Suffice it to say that District 9 gives a fresh take on the humans vs. aliens plotline. We're not the ones being pushed around this time. The story is engaging on many levels, and is a social commentary on interracial relations.
The special effects are awesome! The best thing about the alien effects-- from the creatures, to the weapons, to the vehicles-- is that they don't have a fake feeling about them. Too many SFX heavy movies nowadays look good but they just aren't very convincing. The SFX artists of District 9 did a fantastic job of making everything look gritty and real. One of the highlights of the movie for me is the part where they feature an alien robotic suit/vehicle that is armed to the teeth with alien weaponry. That was definitely a treat! Mecha/robot fans like me will love it for sure. District 9's robot shows that a Votoms, Armored Core, or Robotech/Macross-type movie is possible!
The actors in the movie did an impressive job, especially Sharlto Copley, who played Wikus, the lead character in the story. He doesn't come across as your action-hero type leading man, but he did a really great job coming across as the unwitting hero in story.
Now I understand why Peter Jackson got involved with this project. Although he is not the director (Neill Blomkamp is), he must have been impressed by the story and the ideas behind District 9. I'm glad he did, because it is clear that in the production of this movie, money was spent on its polished look and feel.
I really hope this movie does well in the box-office, because it really is a great movie. It would be nice to see where they take the story if they ever do a sequel. I recommend to everyone to go see this...you will not be disappointed!

What I loved most: Awesome guns and gore
A must-watch for action fans!
Punisher:Warzone is a movie that finally does justice to the comics. The previous two incarnations of Punisher, while good in some parts, were never violent and gritty enough to match their comic-book counterpart, but this one finally does!
Ray Stevenson does a fantastic job and really makes a convincing Frank Castle. In my opinion, he's the best Punisher yet.
I sure hope a sequel is coming!!!

What I loved most: Fascinating story
I think this movie is really good and am surprised that it didn't get better reviews. The story is intriguing and engaging on many levels. The visuals transported me into the world in which the City of Ember exists. This is one to catch with the whole family!

What I loved most: The fight scenes, the fight choreography
What I really hated: Samurai swords in Thailand?
This movie has some really great fight scenes-- much better than a lot of movies I've seen recently. I recommend this movie to all true martial arts fans out there. Forget the story-- it's nothing great or original-- it's only there to provide a background for the true point of watching a movie like 'Chocolate'-- the fight scenes! The fight choreography is very very good and the actress who plays 'Zen,' the leading character of the story, is a true martial artist. Man can she kick-- she reminds me of some of the best female martial artists in Hong Kong action movies of years past. She's not just some actress given 'coaching' on how to do some fight moves, she definitely has a martial arts background. From the way she kicks, I can tell that she has a background in Taekwondo and of course has learned Muay Thai as well. She should come out in a movie with Jackie Chan or Jet Li-- she can definitely hold her own in fight scenes with both of them.

What I loved most: Very graphic portrayal of gunshots wounds, mutilations and decapitations
What I really hated: Too bad it's the last Rambo movie (you'll see in the end of the movie why)
I watched it last night...and was expecting a so-so movie, just like the past few action movies I've seen. But boy was I surprised-- it was damn good!
For anyone who's seen any of the past Rambo movies, you gotta see this one! It kicks the action level up several notches. This is one graphic movie, with very, very bloody death scenes showing bloody landmine explosions, graphic bullet shots to the head, bodies getting torn apart by machine gun fire, just to name a few examples. Definitely not for kids.
The story is nothing new of course... the hero (in this case Rambo) must go and rescue some hostages (in this case they're missionaries delivering medicine to villagers in Burma). But Stallone, who wrote and directed the film did a decent job handling the flow of the story. It's a tad on the short side, but then again if the movie were any longer than its running time, it would be dragging out the story too much. So from start to finish, it was one very entertaining and satisfying ride.
This movie also nicely concludes the Rambo story. Just like 'Rocky Balboa,' Sylvester Stallone gives a nice ending to this franchise. I won't go into details about what happens because it's a spoiler.
I recommend this movie to all action movie fans, and fans of Rambo of course!
