Red Cliff Part 1

What I loved most: Great Scenary and a refreshing point of view for the Three kingdom

What I really hated: The protrayal of individual heroism during the last fighting scene

Firstly, I will commend the director for protraying a new viewpoint of the events that occurs during this end of Han Dynasty. For those people (aka purists) who cannot accept such protrayal, it may be good to note that Romance of the Three Kingdom is a novel, not an accurate protrayal of the events either. Instead, I will recommend you to read the historical record "Shi Ji" before trying to put in all the protests. I cannot agree to the earlier review that the fight against 2000 troops is useless and should concentrate on the rest of the 798000. It is said in the movie that Cao Cao was just making use of these 2000 troops to see how strong the combined Liu and Wu force is, before making anylarge scale military advances. Battle, unlike Dynasty Warrior, is never a straight forward numerical calculation. Some of the characters are acted well, such as the Zhao Yun, Zhou Yu and Zhang Fei, but the rest of the cast needed improvement. Even though the Zhu Ge Liang is handsome enough, he appeared to be outwitted most of the time, especially during the escape from Cao's troop pursue during the early part of the show. One very significant omission is the Zhang Fei appearance on the Chang Ban bridge, which his roar alone stopped the advancement of the Cao's Force temporarily. The appearance of Guan Yu is also inaccuarte, as he should be riding on the Red Hare, instead of walking on the ground. Furthermore, he is nowhere near the invincibility and strength of the Guan Yu as recorded in the history.

L Change The World

What I loved most: Emotional parts of the show

What I really hated: Unexciting, predictable story plot

Firstly, it might be important to ntoe that this is a spin-off from the real Death Note manga. And so, for the die-hard anime/ manga fan of Death Note, they might not like this movie. However, if you judge it by its own standard, I think that this movie is quite a good one. Firstly, I like the acting of L and Maki especially. Some of them complain that the "real" L will not be so stupid to commit certain acts, but like what Kujo say, "he is not good in things that do not require thinking". Hence, it explains for certain parts of the movie. (Eg, Maki rushing out of the room to confront Dr Kujo and her companions is unexpected, as it defies his logic). Furthermore, he is able to recite the chemical names by order in dictionary! However, I find that the story plot is quite straight-forward without the types of twist that will make a movie memorable. When i saw the boy and his ability to memorise the long telephone number and the geometry problem given to Maki by his father, I knew that the two things are linked (And true, to my prediction). Furthermore, I find the change of nature-loving characters to a sudden muderous and crazy characters too abrupt. The ridiculous knife-wielding girl is too much to be true in the real world, and for them to barge into the Level 4 Biological Facility (Facility that is able to manufacture weapon-grade biological agent) that is only guarded by one single security officer is illogical at best! However, i like this movie as it shows the main character L showing some emotions that makes him seem more appropriate as a human. Maki-chan is another character i like, as her emotions appear real to me, as compared to the much acclaimed acting by the little girl in CJ7. *For those who are unclear about what happen in the movie, the injections given by the father to Maki-chan is to increase the blood sugar content. In fact, the reason why the virus is restrained in Maki's body is that her blood sugar content is too low for the virus to replicate. However, in later scene, it is shown that Kujo pierce a wound in her arms and connect it to a glucose bag. This is the reason why the virus start to appear rapidly in the plane. Secondly, if we have to follow the correct length of virus infection, i fear that we won't have this movie. Come on, L will be well dead when the virus start to spread :p
