Rogue Assassin

This action flick intends to land everyone behind a smokescreen of Jet Li’s role as the infamous assassin Rogue. Apparently, Rogue is in cahoots with the Triads and Yakuza but the plot did not reveal the reason for him to ignite a turf war between the two. Perhaps, this is part of Rogue’s ultimate plot or an avenue to ignite the average fight scenes and action sequence in this movie. The plot twist seeks to unveil the truth behind Rouge and Jack Crawford but only manages to deliver and conclude with an abrupt and lacklustre ending.

Grindhouse: Planet Terror

The film's title is derived from the US film industry term "grindhouse", which refers to a movie theater specializing in B movies, often exploitation films in the late 1960s till end of 1980s. Co-written, produced and directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, "Grindhouse" is a double horror series paying homage to the heydays of the Grindhouse era. After Tarantino's "Death proof" (released in late Jun-07) comes Rodriguez's "Planet Terror", a quaint zombie flick that is set to amuse with a bizarre plot aside from an infusion of violence, gory scenes, an army of zombies called 'sickos" and some deadly virus from project "Terror". For a compliment, you get to witness Rose McGowan performing a feat with a machine gun mounted on her leg and a few glances of Bruce Willis before being ravaged by sores.

Ratatouille

Pixar serves up yet another feast of rich animations in an ingenious theme that proves more than a sumptuous treat and heartwarming tale for audiences of all ages. From Brad bird’s fresh perspective in the subject of gastronomy and the bold introduction of a unique rat named Remy, the limelight is all set on this new production of “Ratatouille”. The presentation is a kaleidoscope of realistic animations, colorful characters, lasting ambience in Gusteau’s, fine display of haute cuisine and the scenic view of Paris. Just sit back and relax while Remy and his partner Linguini dish out their signature repast – the “Ratatouille”.

Premonition

This movie is a portrayal of precognition that unfolds in a maze of events over a week. The plot is a mess with a lack of distinction between reality and premonition encounters. As Linda Hanson lives through the ordeal, she has to put together every pieces of clue to save her husband Jim but only to witness his death in the very car accident in her premonition.

I Know Who Killed Me

Expect some gory scenes, a few cheesy pole dance performances and a bizarre twist in the end. Greatest letdown is the vaguely executed plot and lack of exploration in the dual role of Lindsay Lohan.

Apartment 1303

This one revolves around the haunted room of a unnamed sea-view condominium. As narrated by the author of a book, the gruesome past inside room 1303 involves a daughter and mother. After the daughter plunged to death, the mummified corpse of a woman was later discovered inside a closet. Since then, several occupants of the room end up as victims of suicide cases recorded in the police case file. The movie poster tells the whole story, not much to expect in this movie except for a few scares especially a few close-up scenes of the closet.
