Make It Happen

What I really hated: Everything.

A dance movie that boosts no cool or inventive dance moves and grooves. Already, the story is horribly written and predictable, and now, even the dance moves cannot redeem 'Make It Happen' and makes it a less crappy movie. The movie is very poorly paced, and typical. You know a movie sucks when it is 80+minutes but feels like a 120+minutes movie. Boring and tasteless, the dance moves are recycled over and over again, from body ripples to some random punching/kicking, sexy squats then back to ripples again. The best thing I could think of is probably the club 'Ruby's' setting. It is really cool but not the movie. What a failure, make it happen.

4bia

What I really hated: Cannot be classified as top horror.

4Bia has its flaws, but you can hardly point them out as you watch the movie. It can be one of the best horror movie released this year. I hasn't been so scared in cinemas already, and 4Bia brought back the fears. There are 4 original stories, which are fresh, unlike Hollywood's boring remakes or adaptations. The first story 'Happiness' kinda tells you what to expect in this quad-horror. The unique quietness of it makes everything seem scary, even a simple phone vibration. Second feature, 'Tit for Tat' is a revengeful tale about the misuse of black magic and the horrendous consequences. 'In The Middle' is a rather funny yet scary feature. It tells the story of 4 campers with a twist ending, created by linking some popular Hollywood movies. Lastly, 'Last Fright' is a feature about 2 foes. It's been so long since I hug my bag like a teddy bear. Really good and scary movie.

Wall-e

What I loved most: Everything.

Wall-E is a very organised movie which shows the versatility of Pixar once again. The movie starts with a 5 minute clip of Presto, some random rabbit and magician short movie from Pixar, then snippets of the universe and the song 'Put on Your Sunday Clothes' starts playing. Then shows our little Wall-E cleaning up Earth. Soon, Eve came along to Earth looking for signs of life (Plants). Wall-E, after 700 years of loneliness, developed 'Love At First Sight' with Eve. As a token of love, he gave Eve a plant he had found. Here's when the plot starts. They got back to Axiom, a spaceship where humans moved to. Everything is robot-controlled. So humans can no longer walk, and gone fat. It's a battle of wheter going back Eath or not. And by the end, you'll feel light-hearted and touched even by the robots. Pixar has already bought your sympathy in the beginning, the por Wall-E with slanted eyes living and cleaning Earth alone, and falling in love with a robot Eve with no feelings. Really a delight. Winning Oscar this year (again) is the best reward.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

What I loved most: Go Jedi !

What I really hated: Poor animation, sadly.

It's been so long since I last heard Star Wars theme music plays across the cinema, but this time, the cinema is empty. Partly because this is a lousy animation that don't really look very appealing. The images looked dead (They don't really feature any emotions) and boring, and you're probably gonna doze off during the 90 minutes duration. The story is pretty much classic and goes on and on. Visuals are mostly on the shooting and bombings, pretty impressive with these D-grade animation to save costs. If they wanted to make an animation movie, try the Beowulf style, though it looks a little dead, but at least the animation is top-notch and looks very real ! But by the end of Clone Wars, you'll either love it or hate it. I'll say it's for kids, but fans may want to take a look.

Space Chimps

What I really hated: Maybe a little insulting to some human.

Space Chimps is really underrated for very obvious reasons. If I hasn't chance upon Space Chimps because my cousin is interested, I wouldn't be here. The story is simple, the animation is not as bad as it seems. The pacing is really good, for a 80 minutes show. Story tells of sending 3 Chimps to space to check out the wormhole and where it leads to. You can tell there ain't a lot of pop references but there are some really good jokes. Overall, the movie is very underrated, probably also because humans think too highly of themselves. I'm speaking for the Chimps.

12 Lotus

What I really hated: Very poor storyline.

12 Lotus is by far the most artistic Singapore movie I've ever seen, but however, the story falls flat in the middle and never gets up, much like how the main leading actress. 12 Lotus tells the story of a girl, living a hard life and her story told through the 12 chapters of the title song. The songs are nice and enjoyable for anyone who has a fetish for musicals. I happened to like the idea of this particular storytelling, and how everything link together, but surely a better story can be crafted out rather than leaving everything so vague and amateur. But I thought the ending was really impressive, for a Singapore-made film: It nearly had me to tears.
