Iron Man

I don't think Iron Man is a very interesting concept. Yes, Tony Stark is an interesting personality, and he was played to perfection by Robert Downey Jr, but I never could imagine Iron Man actually being a good show. Well, I guess I was wrong because Iron Man was quite a kickass ride! I'm still puzzled by how everything managed to click in the movie, but i'm definitely one of those who can't wait till war machine and iron man's sequel.. Definite must watch.

Speed Racer

I went into the movie with really low expectations, since i'd never previously heard of speed racer, the advertisements were poor and rain was acting in it. I only watched it because there was nothing else on a lazy afternoon and emile hirsch, a personal favourite of mine was the lead. What I got out of this was a mind blowing visual bonanza and at the heart of it all, a warming story about passion for racing. Of course, rain was terrible with his acting and some parts were ridiculous (racer X) but this show never meant for itself to be taken too seriously. Although my partner absolutely hated it for her own reasons, i recommend it to any guy looking to watch something different

Made Of Honour

This show is enjoyable if either 1) you like patrick dempsey 2) you like romantic comedies and 3) you're easily amused. It really wasn't piss poor or anything, just average, really really average. Your run-of-the-mill romantic comedy. The scottish joke was really funny though.

Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

I have to admit that i've never seen an indiana jones movie in my life. That said, i've heard great things about the series from a little blue bird and was really eager to at least catch the latest installment in the cinema. Sadly, I was really disappointed with the plot and the acting. Hiding in a fridge to survive an atomic bomb? A supernatural village? It was just so unbelievably lame. The acting of the evil woman and the mutt's mum was stonewall and the only thing it successfully did in my opinion was to capture the retro vibe of the setting. Only watch if you're a fan of the franchise.

Shaun of the Dead

Lets be serious, shaun of the dead is never going to be an intense, complex or mentally engaging film. Taking that into consideration, this is an excellent movie from start to finish. The backdrop is a bunch of friends surviving a zombie invasion to hilarious results. The jokes here are very funny and well delivered, given that the two main actors are comedians. The chemistry between the cast is also well balanced and roles well acted out. There is not a dull moment in the show and it'll have you in stitches. At the dvd store and not sure what to rent for a saturday afternoon? Get this, you won't regret it

The Prestige

Just finished watching this movie and trust me, it'll be as close to a modern day masterpiece as any show you'll ever see. The Prestige is story-telling at it's finest, equally adept at both showing and telling, a tribute to fine acting as well as directing. The story is passionately unraveled and yet guarded, the way a magician hooks you with his build-up, shows you the trick but never tells you the secret. Second after second the movie leaves you eagerly waiting for more, more clues to the story, more pieces to the puzzle, but never revealing the whole picture. Finally, with a great twist at the end, every jigsaw piece, every hint dropped through the excellent dialogue and acting is finally pieced together and what you get is a well-told, layered masterpiece. Christopher Nolan is indeed proving to be one of the most gifted directors of our time. A must watch.
