Yes Man

Yes man was just an average comedy, reminded me too much of shows like shallow hal and the likes, for some strange reasons. Of course there were funny parts, but there were also the puzzling and downright weird parts as well. Jim Carrey is pretty funny, but I felt the concept wasn't too good and with everything lumped together it became just an average show.

The Day The Earth Stood Still

First off, I do not like Sci Fi shows. I can't appreciate it, and only don't mind those hollywood big budget flicks like war of the worlds. Thus, if this turns out to be a scifi classic and I get the review horribly wrong, please pardon me for speaking for the everyman. The show started off quite well, with a coherent and believable storyline and the audience was rather interested in finding out what was happening. Then along came the best actors in the world keanu reeves and jaden smith to screw up the whole show. Keanu Reeves was deadpan in his acting, which perhaps was the point of his character and thus rather pardonable. However Jaden Smith was truly an irritating child and I really wanted him to die at every scene. If you see the show you'll probably figure why. When he didn't die in the first hour, I actually fell asleep for I don't know how long and woke up near the end. Sorry, I tried to stay awake but it was really boring.

Ip Man

Perhaps in a few months time I'll look back on the review and give it a 4star rating instead, but this movie was really good and well above my expectations. The past few years of kungfu/ martial art movies have really been below average and disappointing compared to the days of Once upon a time in china and classics like that. For an hour and a half I felt as if I was watching one of those movies, which is really huge praise for it. The story although sometimes lacking was enthralling, and the fight sequences were not innovative but still well done. There were pretty funny jokes placed throughout the movie and all in all it was a well made production. I don't know why those newspaper reviewers are slamming the show but it was really good stuff. I'm sure everyone who is anyone will appreciate it at the very least.

Bolt

This was a really good funny and touching movie. It especially hits the right notes when you own/have owned a dog, as you will really understand the emotions throughout the film. Friends of mine who do not own a dog didn't quite get it and said it was only an above average show but I thought it was really good. The characters and the actions were funny, various hilarious sequences and laugh out loud jokes. It was great entertainment for me and my family, 4 out of 5 stars!

Bedtime Stories

This movie was great, really enjoyable and a laugh out loud comedy. Sandler's movies have been rather hit and miss in the past few years, with Zohan especially being a crapfest that almost made me cry at the sheer non funniness. Before I digress, this show had a rather unique story and I was keen to see how it played out and whether it would be too farfetched but thankfully it was not. The jokes were delivered on cue, family-safe sequences throughout and they managed to keep my attention throughout the whole movie. A must watch if you feel like laughing at the cinemas today

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle

The movie had the American Pie kind of humour but without all the sexual facade. The plot couldn't have been dumber: 2 guys have a really strong urge to eat hamburgers and the go all out to get them. However, the people actually pull it off and the movie is funny, sensible and reveals an underlying meaning where it's always worth it to go all out and get what you want. A true stoner comedy which you can't relate to but still find it extremely funny. Harold and Kumar in this show are 2 really likeable characters and you'll find the journey an enjoyable one, trust me.
