This film is simplistic to the point of kiddish and predicatable. What saves this movie from being over boring is the main star of the movie emma roberts. Roberts does an incredible job as the inquisitive Nancy Drew and is extremely likeable. The other supporting roles were fairly handled by the other lesser known actors. The crippling part about this film is, definitely, it being adapted from a book. The image of Drew and in fact, the entire film, seems too commercialised to suit the tastes of the general public and in it, the Drew i imagined from the book seems slightly off.
Maggie Q stole the limelight totally from Willis in this action packed movie. Q was absolutely stunning, not say gorgeous and incredibly impressive with her cold stare and agile movements. IN contrast, thr real star of the show, Willis, lacks the power to attract people's attention and seemed tired throughout the entire film. If you are looking for something action packe dand transformers does not appeal to you, Die Hard 4.0 should satisfy you just as nicely.
Despite the big slashing this film received with most critics, i personally liked the film. It presents our Singaporean society in a more subtle and abstract way, filled with nuances in between the plot. Unlike Jack Neo who blatantly satirices society, the more subtle way that Kelvin Tong chooses to present his side of the story makes this film more enjoyable. This film might not be highly recommended for its entertainment value, but will be an enriching experience if one can see beyond the nuances of this film.
What makes this film sparkle is the acting skills of the two lead actresses. The huge contrast between their characters, one being extrovert, the other introvert is an excellent focal point for this film to explore the theme of homosexual love. Maintaining a moody atmosphere throughout, this film is rather heavy paced and doesn't go easy on the viewers who are being dragged along with it. As compared to Eternal Summer, this film is lacking in its ability to move the audience and presenting the vulnerability of both the protagonist.
Seriously, green is starting to make me feel sick. This film is definitely a no-brainer. Filled with inconsequential plots popping up every now and then and silly jokes, this film is hardly entertaining. The green ogre is losing the "oomph" factor it embodied in the previous two films. To be honest, i can't really imagine how the producers are going to come up with another sequel to this brain dead series.
This film is plainly average. Boasting of bursting animation and special effects, this film is hardly anything else. It is a good thrilling ride in the cinema as we follow the adventures of the four protagonists but as i step out of the cinema, i wonder what the movie was about. Forgettable is one thing about this film, another being the story. Simplistic and juvenile tot he point of absolute prediction, it dosn't take much to guess what will happen in the end. Though we all know how it will most probably end, it would be nice to see more exciting and interesting twists and subplots in the film, to give the film more depth and layers for us to slowly uncover.
