Action superstar Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller) is cast in an extremely expensive war movie. He sets out to Southeast Asia with his co-stars that include a diverse mix of famous actors including an Oscar-winning actor, Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Junior) and Jeff Portnov (Jack Black) the star of a popular comedy franchise. As soon as production begins the actors are forced to become real soldiers in order to survive the jungle. "Tropic Thunder" boasts an impressive line up of A-list stars including Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Matthew McConaughey.
mediocre movie, but good effort from Ben Stiller
the movie has it's fair share of funi moments, but dun think this constitutes as a comedy? more like a senseless movie that is better than love guru, zohan movies..............eg: killed a PANDA in "golden triangle" zone? where the guerillas speaks CHINESE, and are easily subdued by special effect blanks?..............and also happens to possess a tape of "simple jack" movie that Speedman ( Ben Stiller acted in ) ..............other than these pointers, i believe the movie is still ok to watch...........but can this movie really make $ with Tom Cruise in it? he is known for commanding inflated sum of $ to be in movies he act in....
