Based on a novella by acclaimed writer Catherine Lim, the story is about Li-Ann, a young Singaporean girl who meets her 'special someone' on 29 February. She decides to base her intuition on an Irish leap year tradition that no man will refuse any request of a lady and invites him out for a date. Together, they embark on a romantic journey that spans over 12 years, meeting only thrice in 12 years, on the leap year.
What I really hated: TEXTURE of the movie and FX
I couldn’t wait to leave this movie! I cannot understand why reviewers in this website is giving the movie such high ratings. "For romantics" i think not! predictable, long winded and lacks sophistication. The texture of the movie fell short. The blurred white effects representing the past quickly became an annoyance, soft focus. At times i felt that camera person(director?) shot the movie like a TV series. Average acting (especially the step daughter could be improved totally unconvincing) The saviour of this movie that made women decide to sit through it was Jeremy. As a whole it was a good attempt, but will never be a "block buster" chick flick when measured against the international market. For a Singaporean movie production it is heading the right direction. I liked the actors’ attempts to use proper spoken (‘good’) English without to much sing’lish/ whining. This movie in my opinion does not deserve the high ratings which other reviewers have given it. I assume that it is a national pride and biasness that has helped its reviews. Below average but good attempt.
