Inspired by a real life custom from Thailand, where people would sleep in a coffin for a specific number of days hoping it would ward away evil and bad luck. A young man and woman decide to perform the ritual. After that, positive things begin to happen but later terror sets in. With the help of a professor specialising in paranormal cases, they set out to exorcise the ghosts that haunt them, attempting to reverse the wheel of karma.
What I loved most: Um, there's a scene with the male lead topless, which the girls might like
What I really hated: The sheer pointlessness of it all
The Coffin is a pointless rehash of countless Asian horror flicks, and completely devoid of scares or even chills. You get two major Asian stars, but they're in two separate storylines that are only perfunctorily linked at the end. Meanwhile, they're surrounded by an amateurish supporting cast and mope around getting haunted a lot. The only frightful thing about this is how boring it is. You want something scary? Go see [Rec] instead.
