Based on the Suzanne Collins novel of the same name. In a not-too-distant future, North America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 13 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district's female rep, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), the son of the town baker who seems to have all the fighting skills of a lump of bread dough, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives.
What I loved most: Best visually matched Main Characters
What I really hated: Only Depicted Visualization of the book, not the essence of the story.
You have to read the book before watching this movie or you'll feel bored and only wakes up when the hunger games begin and feel it's not enough when the movie ended. In short, Capitol is like the peaceful first world but seeping the life of Districts which resemble the third world or Countries in war. This movie feels like it's made by the capitol for the capitol and rated PG-13 while the main lead is from a totally very different world but act like she can't imagine what starvation is although she depicted a cool protector type of girl, so there's a lot of confusion going on. in the book it was narrated by Katniss and we see the world from her head so it's much much better. --Contain Spoiler- For me this movie is not enough. Not enough fear of Capitol, not enough hunger and starvation displayed. It's the 74th times for districts people saw their children killing each other, Yet they only start to rebel after Rue died. Not much reasoning. Katniss is a survivor but the last scene with the nightlock doesn't portray her small trust to human.
