So disappointing

What I loved most: S B Cohen's performance

What I really hated: Everything else

You know, I am a massive Depp fan and I suppose I ought to have expected someting totally off the wall. The subject matter is not exactly "feel-good" after all is it? Depp and co just made it as black (or red) as possible. The gore was gratuitous and overplayed. The singing was just lilting to the script, not really songs as such. You could amuse your friends by putting your daily conversation in a sing song way too. It would be just about as effective. Depp was dark, moody, and of course sexy, as far as it went, but we came out feeling somewhat shell shocked and not really pleased to have been to see the film. Sacha Cohen's perfomance as the "Italian" barber was very funny and the undoubted highlight of the movie. It was just all too far over the top, not Depp at his best IMHO, and not the sort of film you would want to see more than once for sure.

Gory Turns Musical

What I loved most: Excellent fusion of gore and musical

What I really hated: Jack Sparrow died at the end

This is such a good movie! people instead of speaking were singing, with such feelings and anger, audiences were just excited as the change in emotions, it feels as though we were really in the movie itself. We feel the moves and emotions with the movie, as one. Great fusion of Gore and Musical. EXCELLENT!

sweeney todd!

well, i have to admit that not many would perhaps agree to my ratings for sweeney todd. i am one for musicals as much as action packed and comedy movies, the reason why i am giving such high ratings would be the fact that there are too little movies being produced as a musical, and it's very different from say chicago, moulin rouge and hair spray. i like to highlight that in this movie, one should expect exaggerations, be it the blood in bright vermilion red, the way the blood 'spills' out of the victim's throat in outrageous amounts, the singing and dramatic actions. in my opinion, they are mainly symbolisms to emphasis a certain meaning to the scene/object/action. (the director, tim burton, will not make it look fake for no reason) im giving this movie credit also because of the way the actors sing with so much emotions, and dramatic facial expressions. this is one good movie you should not miss, i suggest you watch this movie with an open mind and not keep thinking of it being another 'edward scissorhands'. and oh, the aftermath of the movie left me feeling very morbid. hahah which is kinda interesting then a typical hollywood film.

Winner of 2 Golden Globes

What I loved most: Best Motion Picture (Musical), Best Actor (Musical)

Well, the results of the recent Golden Globe Awards has already indicated how Sweeney Todd fares. Either you like it or not, this film has emerged as a musical favourites to even non-musical movies-goers now !
