life is a long learning process
i couldnt understand why this was under the comedy genre when i dun find anything funny about this movie? so many people were talking during the movie, and we just duno how it will end. it seems more like a girl happen to see an opportunity, jump in, wanting to be entreprenuer, halfway through, things happened, closed shop, in much bigger debts, and start all over again.
the moral of the story is, whatever happens, you still need your daddy's money to start over again.

At first I expected it to be one hell of a dark-comedy like Little Miss Sunshine. Turns out the movie is less about comedy and funny stuff and more into deep emotional impression toward 2 sisters who have different personality: one is full-of-effort girl and the other a lazy bitch-type girl that slacks off everyday. Things get a little bit out of control, however, when these girls are forced to work together as corpse-cleaners, meaning they have to clean crime scenes. Of course messy stuff happens. Watching this film teaches you how valuable a family is, how our life doesn't always go like the way we want it. We have to work hard to achieve what we're dreaming for.

What I loved most: Amy Adams & Emily Blunt
What I really hated: The script
The script is all over the place, with unnecessary subplots and characters. The central conceit of the cleanup company is cute, but doesn't add anything significant. What then, warrants the passing grade? The answer is Amy Adams and Emily Blunt, who give faultless performances that lift their characters out of the caricatures they could've been, and give genuine depth, warmth and humor to their relationship.

After watching Little Miss Sunshine, I was always keen to see this film when I heard it was by the same people. Although there was a similar underlying dysfunctional, dark, tone to both films, Sunshine Cleaning covered more dangerous subject matter, which had advantages and disadvantages.
On the one hand, the major trauma of the mother's death was more up front, and then followed the revealing of their other difficulties, nicely layered. On the other hand, in a way, Little Miss Sunshine accomplished more in revealing their dysfunctional characters' dilemmas subtly.
In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed the juxtaposition of black humor and the depth of character development through their traumatic and somewhat odd experiences and emotions.
In particular, the smooth development of relationships between the characters was incredibly raw and perceptive.
The two lead actresses were very well cast and although I'm not a huge Amy Adams fan, she's gone up in my books after this film! Nora was incredibly well played and I've now yet to see a film where I haven't enjoyed Emily Blunt as a performer.
A good film, definitely worth a watch.
