"You will go to sleep: you will wake up. It will be as if those hours never existed," says her madam, Clara (Rachael Blake). Death-haunted, quietly reckless, Lucy (Emily Browning) is a young university student who takes a job as a Sleeping Beauty. In the Sleeping Beauty Chamber old men seek an erotic experience that requires Lucy's absolute submission. This unsettling task starts to bleed into Lucy's daily life and she develops an increasing need to know what happens to her when she is asleep.

Written by Julia Leigh an Australian novelist known for her popular novels such as "Disquiet" and "The Hunter" (also adapted into a movie starring Willem Dafoe), "Sleeping Beauty" funded by Screen Australia, follows a University student Lucy (played by Emily Browning "Sucker Punch") who has a number of odd jobs to support herself including offering herself as a sex partner at classy bars. When Lucy responds to an Ad for a job as a freelance lingerie waitress, she also accepts a job where she's drugged to sleep while old men caress her leaving her with no knowledge of the event. Until one day, when she decides to find out what really happens during this unconscious occasions, which is not much of a mystery to be frank.
Browning who first rose into prominence with her role opposite Jim Carrey in "Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events", shone a glimmer of hope that the rosy cheeked beauty had a bright career in Hollywood, however with her poor choices in recent movies playing a lingerie clad brothel worker in "Sucker Punch" and now this, it seems that the 23-year-old Browning is putting herself up for unnecessary exploitation thus selling herself short in the industry.
"Sleeping Beauty" tries hard to achieve an art-house film feel, but ends up being more of a sleazy piece that is so dull, that it fails to interest one to watch with even that to entice.
