An accomplished athlete who competed in the 1992 Olympic trials before a neck injury sidelined his sports career, Scott Speedman got his start in acting after following through on a dare. The aspiring actor was encouraged to send a tape to Canadian TV's "Speaker's Corner" asking for the role of Robin in 1995's Toronto-filmed "Batman Forever". His appearance on the open-forum program did earn him an audition, and although he was not cast as Boy Wonder, he did hook up with an agent and subsequently landed some small television roles.
