A former elite agent Luke Wright (Statham) takes on a two-tier mission. First, he has to rescue a Chinese girl (Chan) who has been abducted by the Triads. Second, Wright must use a highly desired safe combination to outwit the Russian Mafia, corrupt NYC politicians, and the Triads themselves while being on the run from the police.

What I loved most: The ACTION...............

What I really hated: No worst thing...............Life had always been VIOLENT !

" SAFE " movie. Have always loved this botak Jason Statham.......loved his ACTION scenes, I mean. Who cares.......for a relatively small amount of entrance fee, and almost 2 glorious hours in the cinema, I am totally lost in an imaginary world of intrigue and ACTION...................

What I really hated: Nothing I can think of

NY is overrun by dirty cops and triads. Mei is a genius young Chinese girl whose life is in danger because she can remember complicated numbers. She is wanted and hunted by all the bad guys. When you see Jason Statham leading a movie, the first thing that hits audiences would be the amount of action adrenaline they're definitely up for with never ending fighting scenes featuring explosive car chases and guns firing. Therefore the same can be said for Statham's latest venture in "Safe" which is exactly what audiences are paying for.

Shot by director Boaz Yakin ("Remember The Titans" & "Hostel"), this movie sees Statham ("The Transporter" & "The Expendables") as Luke Wright, a former secret agent who becomes a second rate cage fighter with specialties in martial arts. His life as a fighter takes a turn for the worst when he gets involved in a fixed match with an inexperienced fighter, who then falls into a coma upon being knocked out by Luke. As a result, the rigged fight causes dissatisfaction among a Russian Mafia who decides to teach Luke a lesson with a tragic accident resulting in Luke protecting a 12-year-old girl and exerting his vengeance upon the mafia.

This movie bears a lot of similarity to other Statham's movies in terms of the fight scenes which is probably due to Statham's personal connection with martial arts in real life, having studied the art of Wing Chun, Kung Fu, Karate, and Kickboxing. Another trademark factor for most of Statham's movies is the grittiness and elements of realism his own stunts exudes due to the actor performing most of the complicated stunts himself.

Apart from that, although the movie does not feature a lot of big names, "Safe" still has an uncertain appeal to it, or je ne sais quoi as some may put it. Unlike Statham's previous roles in "Killer Elite", "Chaos", or even "Death Race" where his role seems rather stiff, his character as Luke Wright has a lot of heart in it. Not only that, albeit the fairly routine and laughable preposterous storyline, this film certainly displays some punch in terms of its reliably solid, ass kicking performance by Jason Statham. Having some pretty witty and funny cheesy one liners certainly helps to liven up the mood of the film.

Although the visual effects are nothing to shout about, it would still leave audiences at the edge of their seats with explosive and sometimes gory stunts. Do watch this if you are a fan of Jason Statham and fast action packed films.
