"There are no such things as ghosts"
What I loved most: Ekin Cheng
Rule No. 4: The story of a cop who gets transferred to the so-called Miscellaneous Affairs Division (a.k.a Ghostbusters) and starts investigating the paranormal sounds run-of-the-mill enough. But No. 1 adds twists to the ending (NO, the main characters are not dead already, though I find certain parts predictable). The tight story makes it one of the reasons to watch No. 1.
Rule No. 3: It's good to have experienced actor like Ekin Cheng to helm your movie with hs commendable acting chops as demonstrated in this movie. It also helps to have an absolutely cool Shawn Yue and hottie Fiona Xie too!
Rule No. 2: Always have scary sound effects and shadows popping out. Some scenes of the spirits were plain silly (think "the Grudge") and some was just plain eerie (i.e figure staring out from dark alley). It was also clever to bring audience to places where we have heard of hauntings (e.g. swimming pools, hospitals, old folk homes and cinema halls! Yikes!)
Rule No. 1 is indeed an above average movie until the theory of spirits possessing humans by touch felt a tad bit like the Chinese vampires in the 80s, making them invincible and powerful. The ending also had many displeased but something I thought was realistic. Come on what are the chances of overcoming the paranormal?

Fiona's role in this movie makes me rofl
What I loved most: Storyline
What I really hated: Fiona's role in the movie
Why do I say Fiona's role makes me rofl? Don't be mistaken. i'm not talking about her acting. It's the role given to her. In almost EVERY scenes she acted in, she's either (1) sleeping, (2) lying down or (3) hugging Shawn Yue. She absolutely has no chance to display her acting skills.

Rule #1
What I loved most: acting and story
What I really hated: the ending
This is a suprisingly good tragic horror movie with its share of thrills and spine chillers, twists and turns. If the hero had died in the beginning, the tragedy won't follow? ...anyway good acting by the cast. although it is like a horror movie, in the background there are some subplots like some poignant love stories which make the audience connect more emotionally with the main characters. The main theme is vengence by evil spirit. The movie is littered with body counts of innocent victims. The gimmick is the demon jump from body to body. Another difference given to the story is a police unit investigating paranormal happenings even though the official line is that there is no such thing as ghosts. given the ending...maybe there would be a sequel?

What I really hated: everybody got possessed in the end
Very interesting plot on how this serial killer was killed and turned into a ghost for revenge. In this movie, when a ghost touches a human being, the human being will be possessed by the ghost. It is like a virus. When one gets infected, the virus can be passed on to another being by touch.
What I really hated was, everybody got possessed in the end. Fiona really pulled her role off well. Before the movie ended, Lao ti ko did something to her so despicable that describes his sickening character -.-
This is a 100% improvement compared to previous movie filmed; Men In White. This may not be the best horror movie but it will be a thrilling one for horror movie fans as there were some successful scares scenes.
