A boring and complicated horror movie!

What I loved most: none

What I really hated: I don't understand the story of the movie!

After watching 2 local horror movies " The Maid" and " Men in White" directed by local director Kelvin Tong, I expect to see this horror movie " Rule Number One" which was filmed in Hong Kong and starring Hong Kong actors Shawn Yue and Ekin Cheng to be better than " The Maid" and " Men in White". But to my disappointment, I really don't understand the story of the movie and what the movie is talking about! Although some of the scenes when the ghosts appeared in the movie were scary, gore and disturbing, there are some parts of the movie which left me puzzled and confusing. What happened to Shawn Yue in the end of the movie? Did he killed his girlfriend Fiona Xie? Did Shawn Yue possessed by the ghosts? Why did Ekin Cheng appeared in the end of the movie when he was killed by Shawn Yue? Was that Ekin Cheng's ghostly spirits? Why did Shawn Yue and Ekin Cheng can killed and shot the innocent victims possessed by ghosts when both of them are cops? These are some of the questions I want to know about the movie. I think this horror movie is really boring and complicated and nothing else!

An exceptional film local or otherwise

The film made me feel completely transported and transfixed from beginning to end (and it wasnt just cos of that hot boy shawn yue) as the best of films should do. The dialogue is crisp and witty, the visuals are stunning, great partner/buddy chemistry between Shawn and Ekin, the soundtrack is as layered and alluring as the wonderful script. Kelvin Tong directs with a hand as smooth and confident as any major horror director in Asia or anywhere. A great watch. A must watch.

Boring Movie

What I loved most: Same police haunted movie...

What I really hated: Boring Storyline

This movie is boring. The sound system are more scarier than the plot. To me it's a waste of time watching. Throughout it's only about a paranoid policeman. The horor part boring. Nothing suspenfull, as I mention earlier only the sound system, suspens you.

Average Ghost Movie

What I loved most: the twist in the end

What I really hated: not scary enough as compared to the Thai ghost Movies

Basically this movie is rather ok to watch. There is a plot, the actors did a reasonable job to make the movie watchable. The first part of the show was where all the minor ghosts appeared. And it was this part that scare most people in the cinema. But once the actual story starts to take place, the movie became less scary, as the main actors, Shawn Yue and Ekin Cheng, already know what they are dealing with. Only till the last part when there was a twist in the movie. Ekin Cheng did a good job in this movie, acting as a veteran cop placed in the Miscellaneous Department, very stressed up and sometimes also quite funny. Shawn Yue, who plays Sergeant Lee, was ok. About Fiona Xie, there's nothing much to say about her, as she acted as the wife of Shawn and they have alot of mild intimate scenes together. Didn't really see much acting from her. Other then that, there was a main ghost, so the storyline was set, and rather expected til the last 5 mins. There was alot of shooting to the head actually. Overall this movie can be watched, but if you miss it, it will also be ok. Some may say,"Just wait for the VCD or DVD to come out first, then watch." But I watched it in the cinema, and I say watch it only if you are bored and got nothing to do. And you want a mild scare. 3 Stars from me. Hope you find this useful.
