In "Mirror Mirror", an evil Queen (Julia Roberts) kills the King and steals control of a kingdom, while the exiled princess (Lilly Collins) enlists the help of seven quarrelsome dwarfs to win back her birthright. This spirited fantasy by Tarsem Singh also stars Armie Hammer ("The Social Network") as the object of their affection Prince Andrew Alcott, and Nathan Lane ("The Birdcage") as the hapless and bungling servant to the Queen.

What I loved most: Creative and balanced writing, intelligently hilarious & vividly real

What I really hated: Story has not reached full potential for humour, like Shrek -

Mirror, Mirror offers a fresh perspective into the lives of the "insecure" queen (who is actually more a crazy-bitter-than-an-obnoxiously-murderous queen), Snow White (trying to find her own identity), Brighton (highlighting his tenacity as a loyal, royal assistant), the seven dwarfs (sexified dwarfs, I say) and the whole royal Snow White environment, seen from the eyes of the queen. I am glad that the film veers away from the dark and grim interpretations now commonplace in the movies. Rather this movie is a relaxed, entertaining piece to which both adults and kids will relate. Children will love the characters, the vivid colours, the majestic setting of the castle, the gymnastic stunts, the creepy marionettes, Brighton’s transformation as a cockroach (in keeping with his roach-like tenacity), the sword fight and of course, the extravagant costumes and headdresses. The fact that nobody actually was killed in the film (even the “insecure” queen did not die) except for the beast which was eventually pulverized and no gruesome bloodshed changes the tone of the Snow White story. And obviously the Bollywood-style ending, highlighting the influences of Indian director Tarsem Singh. Adults will observe the tension between the queen and Snow (who eventually develops her assertiveness) in their fight for legitimate power. The "prince charming" who actually works and travels to trade with other kingdoms. The true-to-life role of royal bootlicker Brighton on selling the often unreasonable" royal decrees. Snow, who saved the prince with a kiss, rather than the other way around. The seven dwarfs who are rather muscular and opinionated, as opposed to the 1937 "stubby, gullible" depiction. Story however has not reached its full potential for humour and intrigue – but the actors rendered a rather convincing portrayal of the nuances of the characters Overall very entertaining to watch and good for all ages!

What I loved most: the dresses

What I really hated: julia roberts as a wicked witch

Quite a relaxed movie and there's creativity in it. I personally love it as its quite funny at times and i think the female lead is pretty awesome and very pretty...

Only watch this if you are going with a kid under 12 yrs old. Otherwise u will be cursing and swearing ur way out of the cinema. The show was clearly meant for kids and none of the scene could put a smile on any grown-ups's faces

"Mirror Mirror" will leave one with exactly the same impression the trailer did with the best parts of the movie having already been seen and heard. It's neither with a twist nor a surprise; however it is as enchanting of a light-hearted fairytale as it could possibly be.

This character and visual driven piece follows quite a similar premise of the classic "Snow White" story, however it does thug on the strings of slapstick humour, sarcasm and self-deprecation quite a bit for the laughs. Lily Collins the daughter of British singer Phil Collins plays Snow White, the innocent stepdaughter of Queen Clementianna (Julia Roberts) who wants to reclaim her kingdom. The Queen however with the help of her hilarious servant, Brighton (Nathan Lane) wants to get rid of Snow who serves as a threat towards the Queen's plans to marry the rich and handsome Prince Andrew Alcott.

The movie bands together a group of thieving dwarves with the less conventional fairytale names like; Hal-Pint, Grimm, Napoleon, Chuckles, Wolf, Butcher and Grub, who aid Snow on her quest and the result is hilariously entertaining. Lily Collins is a beautiful and credible Snow White, never bordering on being too cheesy, and Julia Roberts in her first villainous role is rather fun to watch with her cheeky narration and persona to match as the less evil but more insecure Queen.

Those who watched "The Social Network" might've acquired distaste for Armie Hammer, but be ready to be proven wrong as the 26-year-old not only is the perfect depiction of 'Prince Charming', but also has what it takes to be a decent comedian to set hearts aflutter.

Compared to Tarsem's previous works though, "The Cell", "The Fall" and "Immortals", "Mirror Mirror" seems to fall short despite its stunning visual treats synonymous with his directing style. Perhaps because it's the director's first venture into comedy, therefore he had to take the lighter route instead of threading on the treacherous darkness his prior movies so blatantly portrayed.

Interestingly "Mirror Mirror" also exudes a slight Bollywood charm to it, and is an entertaining movie for all as a fairytale woven with laughs that everyone can appreciate.
