Based on Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez' novel, the drama traces the vigil of Florentino Ariza, who waits for more than half a century to claim the hand of Fermina Daza, the woman he loves. Florentino (Javier Bardem), who was rejected by the beautiful Fermina (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) at a young age, devotes much of his adult life to carnal affairs as a desperate attempt to heal his broken heart. Directed by Mike Newell ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," "Four Weddings and a Funeral") its cast include Catalina Sandino Moreno, Benjamin Bratt, John Leguizamo, Hector Elizondo and Liev Schreiber.
