Not yet meltdown....

Meltdown was the best of the three Ice Age movies I had watched. There were lovable new characters made the whole adventure amicable and enjoyable. The sabre-toothed squirrels, Scrat and Scratte’s rivalry over the ‘always big size’ acorn provided chuckles and their romance was like a shooting rocket in the air. The pleasure also came in when Sid discovered his fatherhood with three adopted eggs which turned out to be three cute little T-Rex (created by our local talent, Melvin Tan). Also, the somehow bongus Captain Buck, a one-eyed weasel added a new adventure for the whole show. The inspiring part was Diego, the tiger who seemed losing his innate ability with the advancing of his age, fought and braced himself to rescue his friend in difficulty. The title suggested meltdown may be controversial but not to be critical, I found the 3-D animation deployed was innovative and at its best in views of competition. Despite the difference in life pursuits, it was a feel good experience to see the characters reunite and stay close together. And I believe it is a good entertainment for the whole family.

Better to watch the movie non-3D

What I loved most: Humourous character

What I really hated: The whole thing is getting stale

All right, I admit, it is better to watch the animation non-3D as the effect was like insignificant? Show wise, the whole plot was passable, but I am feeling a bit of the directors lack of breakthrough. The jokes are getting increasingly old, and if this continues, I think it is time for the directors to give it a finale version, where the Ice Age finally ends and the animals becomes extinct, maybe died of some heat stroke or get eaten up by the dinosaurs. Definitely not worth to pay the extras for the 3D effect.

Thank God for the 3-D technology

When it comes to cuteness, Ice Age 3 wins for sure. The scene in which one of the characters give birth to a baby mammoth is surprisingly funny, cute and touching at the same time. However the overall feeling of the movie as a whole is pretty messy. Often the movie focuses more into its humor and not on its plot line. Once again, the character that doesn't have anything to do with the story, Scrat, becomes the highlight of the movie as he always makes unrelated slapstick jokes. Even worse, these jokes are perhaps more than 70% of the whole jokes contained by the movie so pretty much without Scrat, the movie will be so... NOT FUNNY. I wish I had seen it in 3-D. Unfortunately they only showed Ice Age in 3-D only in 4 screens in Jakarta so yeah... that was why.
