Mui Dong Bin Wan Si (Movie title in Cantonese)

What I loved most: The theme song

What I really hated: The ending

I really love the song when Miriam sings it though she is not the original singer. Song title = movie title. I think the director is trying to show us Hong Kong from 1997 till 2007. Another thing is how Hong Kong ladies' basic requirements when they choose their life partner - either rich, richer or richest. However, I was hoping that Eason and Miriam end up together but it was otherwise. This movie is not as memorable as the theme song but it is still worth watching. (Rent the disc unless you are a diehard fan of Eason or Miriam)

Hooked - Best HK movie of the year

What I loved most: Excellent script and acting

What I really hated: Can't think of any

Not the usual silly HK comedies but a rare gem kind of movie that leaves you thinking about it long after. It is touchingly bittersweet and thought provoking. Both Eason and Miriam acted very well and should be nominated for next year's HK Film Awards for Best Actor and actress category. Director Law Wing Cheong should be nominated too, I think he did a great job.

Bittersweet but not as infectious as expected

This film is light hearted and well paced in the sequence of events leading up to the final scene. The director does a good job in capturing the feel of nostalgia for the olden days, before the entire city metamorphosizes into a cosmopolitan city. The film zooms in and explores the typical commoners you and i see daily on the streets and the director also does a good job in presenting the various helpless situations we face, in this ever changing world. Miriam Yeung and Eason Chen does a fair job in their portaryal of the lead characters, with special mention to Yeung, who successfully played her character with subtle expressions and nuances in between scenes. This film is extremely nostalgic and poignant as it focuses on the reminiscence of the past (which makes for a potentially great film), but all this couldn't make up for this film's failed attempt to touch the audiences' hearts.
