Producer Jerry Bruckheimer brings his first 3-D film to the big screen with "G-Force", a comedy adventure about the latest evolution of a covert government program to train animals to work in espionage. Armed with the latest high-tech spy equipment, these highly trained guinea pigs discover that the fate of the world is in their paws. Tapped for the "G-Force" are guinea pigs Darwin (Sam Rockwell), the squad leader determined to succeed at all costs; Blaster (Tracy Morgan), an outrageous weapons expert with tons of attitude and a love for all things extreme; and Juarez (Penelope Cruz), a sexy martial arts pro; plus the literal fly-on-the-wall reconnaissance expert, Mooch and a star-nosed mole, Speckles (Nicolas Cage), the computer and information specialist.

Just in case you're wondering if this is the same kind of animal rescue movie that you're used to watching, then the answer is yes - and the point in question is now whether it's well made and whether it puts its best foot forward to audiences. Disney's latest "G-Force" adventure is a simple light-hearted one but at the same time difficult to forget. It takes you on an exciting chase-after-chase and explosion-after-explosion kind of 3-D thrill. "G-Force" is packed with punchy lines and funny jokes but don't expect a deep, profound lesson in life or anything like that. This ride is one to have with your ten-and-below kids. The guinea pigs are an awesome lot as they breathe life into the plot, making even a nine-inch superhero stand out.

Effects-wise, the picture does have plenty of stunning and beautifully crafted scenes. Colours play an important factor in a 3-D animation and the movie makers definitely nailed it this time around. You might take a while for your eyes to adjust to the screen but soon you'll be ready for action. There are things happening at every corner of the screen!

However, as the story develops, the cute characters in the story fail to make a long lasting impression. There's a lot of a talk and then we get plunged into action - this process repeats itself one too many times. When that happens, audiences will find themselves disengaged and less attracted to the the movie. While the voice talents sound like they were having fun, it's a sad case that people may not be able to share in a great deal of that excitement.

Disney's trying to make the world's heroes tinier and tinier but let's hope the appeal don't disappear altogether.

Written by the husband-and-wife duo Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, the masterminds behind "National Treasure" movies, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle", and "Bad Boys II", you can bet your bottom dollar that "G-Force" will have its fair share of action thrills and explosions, regardless if it involves guinea pigs. The show even kicks off with a lot of mission blabbing about obtaining a businessman's dastardly plan to conquer the world involving... coffee machines. Somehow, the scriptwriters always manage to sneak in a strange subject of idiocy within a serious operation.

One of the few interesting scenes are the stunt sequences coupled with up-beat dance tracks mainly from the American hip hop group, Black Eyed Peas. Be prepared to listen to the sounds of "Boom Boom Pow" over and over again, igniting your groove muscles even if it's just a little. Moreover, it's amusing to see action-movie cliches reenacted by guinea pigs such as high-speed ball chase, guinea pigs in slow-mo, and even an unexpected over the top Transformers-like scene at the end. Even though it was a Transformers rip-off, it was still nicely done, bringing back sweet reminiscence of the Hollywood blockbuster film.

The main characters are an unlikely pairing of a couple of highly-trained guinea pigs with a tech smart mole and a hungry housefly, which honestly has never looked this lovable until now. Darwin (voice of Sam Rockwell) is the lead guinea pig, who's aided by a feisty yet annoying Latina guinea pig, Juarez (Penelope Cruz), and a freewheeling African American guinea pig, Blaster (Tracy Morgan), who apparently has watched MTV's Pimp My Ride. It's hard to believe that Nicolas Cage is the voice of Speckles the mole. Using what he calls his 'stress' voice, he can very well get himself hired as the next Looney Tunes character!

The cinematography takes audiences on an exciting ride through a fly's point-of-view, swerving in and out of crammed places. The computer generated effects were well thought out, trying to give as much human expressions into the animals without making it look awkward. Although some of the humour may fall short resorting to fart or poop jokes, but it's clear as to which audience it wants to appeal to.

Interestingly, "G-Force" may be a combination of when "Bolt" meets "Mission: Impossible" and "Transformers".
