Day watch

What I loved most: Cool action stunts

I saw Night watch and it was just okay, just the usual vampire movie. I then realised there is a sequel. Night watch is followed by Day watch. The trailer interested me with its cool sci-fic action which is why I watched this. Other than that, I am not bothered by the story-contents. The story is about Anton Gorodetsky(Konstantin Khabensky), the main character and the hero, who fights the force of the darkness while trying to save his son. He then gets hold of the magical chalk which can do anything. The story is slightly confusing but when the cool action come, you won't mind about the confusing story plot. The story is just okay. But the action is the one which sucks me into the fantasy world. The CGI is getting better, you get to see a truck being smashed into a man. The CGI effects are better than the last movie, Night watch. The suspense and the action are also increasingly better than Night watch. Though with all the serious action and suspense, there is some weird humour. I have not read the book but the two movies are already great. It is not an usual horror/fantasy movie, it got the cool action to keep you packed. Though, it seems the final at the end, there will be/might be a sequel. I don't know but whatever the second sequel is coming, I will watching it. Overall, it does make a great action-packed movie. If you want to watch a cool sci-fic movie, this one is for you. The cool action is like Matrix. You get to see a man driving a car on a building. How awesome is that?

Day Watch (taken from ourvoicebox.sg)

What I loved most: moving subtitles

What I really hated: duration

DAY WATCH (DNEVNOI DOZOR) this is a foreign language that you and me may not understand. It is in RUSSIAN. With the guidance of the ENGLISH SUBTITLES which is one of the interesting points of the MOVIE. The subtitles MOVE. Yes, they move with the sound effect like knocking of doors and more. The subtitles have colours that CHANGE according to the story plot. You will be led in to a world of vampires, separated in to light ones and dark ones. they were supposed to live peacefully, not interrupting each other group’s life. If anyone do they are commiting a crime. For example, if the dark one kills a human, he had commited a crime. The fateful day arrives where the war between the light and dark has begun. The end result, MASSIVE DESTRUCTION. In LEGEND, people were after the ANCIENT CHALK OF FATE, hoping to control everything in the world. People in the present thought it was just a MYTH. It turns out this chalk do exist. Thinking that it will grant any wish, a female dark one tried using the chalk to revive her love one, but nothing happens. This chalk was not able to grant any WISHES, but to give the person a chance to re-make their decisions. It will turn back time and allows the person to make their fateful choice that will affect their entire life. “It is a very interesting movie, although it was unexpectedly long. I like action and thriller movies. This movie was not as scary as I expected.” – eric, 20 “You cannot leave the theatre till the movie ends as you will only understand what this whole movie’s main message is bringing across at the end.” – jing yi, 19 “I feel enlightened about the decision making part. It is like, even if you turn back time, and not make the right decision, everything will be the same. However, we do not have chance to re-make choices again, this movie reminds me to think twice whenever I need to make a decision.” – xin yi, 19

Day Watch

What I loved most: action packed. good storyline

This is a sequel to the show Night Watch. From Russia, an interesting action packed show of an ultimate showdown between Light and Dark. There is supposedly a Chalk of Fate that can change destiny and it was somehow connected with Tamerlane. Both sid...(read more)es were after the Chalk of Fate. Interspersed with this are other subplots. There are Father and Son relationships. Romance and the dynamic of control in relationship.

Day proves to be better than Night

What I loved most: Great Action Scenes, definitely

What I really hated: The deviation from the original story

Admittedly it might be hard to get into this movie and its predecessor "Night Watch" without first having read the books by Sergei Lukyanenko, which in my personal opinion make up one of the urban fantasy series around, Russian or not Russian. And it is also true that having read the excellent, engagingly creative and intelligent books, the movie (with its plot simplified and drawn from a combination of several plot threads of the various books in the series such that the original stories almost becomes beyond recognition) might pale in comparison. But having said all that, Day Watch is nevertheless a very entertaining two hours. Besides the added allure of having a fantasy genre movie in a setting as rich in myth and culture like Russia, there is also impressive acting from the Russian actors, with Konstantin Khabensky as the lead Anton standing out especially, and the actors playing Gesar and Olga putting in very notable efforts as well. All in all, "Day" is a better outing than "Night" was, with some very nice stylized action scenes, a good soundtrack to back them up, a plot that will hold your attention, and also solid performances from the actor.
