It's raining FUN!

What I loved most: Stunning visuals

What I really hated: Really nothing

A really quirky but extremely enjoyable animated movie with really hyper kinetic characters that really charmed the baloney out of you! Don't let the cartoony CGI drawings put you off. The visuals and effects are absolutely dazzling and the story a potluck full of fun. Now who can resist a renegade meatball throwing up giant roasted chickens as a defense mechanism or your school getting demolished by pancakes?! Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch and supper!

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs

What I loved most: Vibrant animation

What I really hated: None

Sony Animation's latest offering is a cautionary tale on the dangers of greed and excess under the guise of a simple and charming children animation. It tells the story of an avid scientist, Flint, who invented a machine which generates food from water but things took a turn for the worse when the machine was overworked, resulting in a highly destructive food storm. Presented in appealing kaleidoscopic imagery and iridescent pastel colours, the massive food storm in the climax of the story looks good enough to eat. The characters are quirky and dysfunctional, which makes them immensely entertaining. The film is also so knowing, with a dark sense of humour that you cannot help but be amused by it.There is also a sweet and affecting father-and-son subplot which gives the film emotional depth. This is one scrumptious original.

Charming & Innocently Wonderful

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs might be the underdog of all animation films in 2009. The film, although doesn't have very strong originality like that of Disney-Pixar's film, is highly energetic and very fun to watch. The story tells about a man that makes a machine that transforms water into food. But later, this machine is damaged due to the greedy citizens' requests for food and later has its own mind. The visual for the movie is extremely charming, colorful and detailed as every single food you encounter in the movie is likely going to make you hungry for sure (so get popcorn or something like that when you're watching this movie). I'd highly recommend watching this movie either in 3-D or 2-D Digital. The colorful visual of the movie is something that you guys shouldn't miss.

Din anyone tell ya nt to play wif ya food!

A little boy who always wanted to be a scientist grows up & invents a food-making machine. The machine sets off to the sky and he controls the machine from the ground. Hence it rains whatever food he programmes the machine to come up with. This catches the attention of a weather girl who arrives at the town to report the "weather". The mayor soons finds out the invention and makes the scientist famous and acknowledges the scientist and markets the town as a foodie place for all to visit and makes different types of food rain each day. However, as the more orders the machine churns, it gets out of control, creating the biggest food storm that threatens the existence of the town. It is then up to the scientist, the weathergirl and his team to save the town from being buried under food. I admit that where the story lacks in logic, it makes up in imagination. To see food rain down from the sky is fascinating to watch. From steak to jello castle to jelly bears, and of course, meatballs, the movie is only as delicious as having a sundae without hot fudge on it. I do agree that the 3D effect was kinda lost on this movie but some scenes did pop up making it nice and yummy for the audience. There is also a very funny black policeman to look out for in the movie. With no huge names on the production (except for Anna "House Bunny"Faris), I do not think it's such a huge seller in Singapore but surprised that it was no. 1 in US for 2 weeks.
