Go watch this film !

What I loved most: Great acting

Actress Tan Kheng Hua came across on screen as very genuine and honest (true, uninhibited) to the psyche and portrayal of ALI, the character she plays. Her co-star Makoto who plays her father in the film, was so good in his portrayal as a Singaporean that my friend asked me at the end of it who was the Japanese name on the poster. I thought his acting had the right touch, tension, nervousness and mystery. The scenes between them were strongest part of the film, and the emotions came across with lots of credibility and rawness also !

Visually Stunning! Poignant Story.

What I loved most: Beautiful visual sequences of Singapore and a simple but incisive story that transcends cultural bou

What I really hated: Perhaps the fact that the movie was entirely in English made some of the dialogue a little stilted.

The romantic visual portrayal of Singapore is for me a long awaited presentation of how many Singaporeans feel about their country. Furthermore, the refreshingly simple and focussed theme of the movie tells a story that does not try too hard to dramatise cultural predicaments of Singaporeans. Instead, universal themes that involve family, love and passion tell the story in a way that helps us understand Singapore better and allows all to identify and empathise with the characters. Acting kudos to the entire cast and again, VISUALLY STUNNING!

Better than expected.

What I loved most: Blind Boy Actor

What I really hated: Took too long for fim to start

Cages wasn't my kind of movie since I'm more of a thriller and action guy. I went to the event last night because my girlfriend really wanted to go. She heard that the actor who played the little blind boy was really blind. My first thought was, how can a blind kid learn how to act in the first place? How would he even take directions if he can't even see what he's told to do? Not having much of a choice in the first place, I made the best of it trying to be a good boyfriend and went along without having any expectations. The whole time, I concentrated on the boy's acting. To my surprise his acting was really good. The others weren't not bad either. I've seen the grandfather in alot of films like Peral Harbor and Samuri Jack. My girlfriend loved the film and cried at the end. Overall I had a good time and the movie was not bad at all. H-
