- 2004: Directed "After the Sunset," starring Pierce Brosnan and Salma Hayek
- 2002: Signed on to direct "Rush Hour 3"
- 2002: Directed "Red Dragon," prequel to "Silence of the Lambs" (1991)
- 2001: Directed sequel "Rush Hour 2," a record-breaking box office hit
- 1999: Directed under-achieving drama "The Family Man" starring Nicolas Cage and Tea Leoni
- 1998: Directed Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan in the smash hit "Rush Hour"
- 1997: Moved to Los Angeles and landed his first feature directing job with "Money Talks" starring Charlie Sheen and Chris Tucker
- 1990: Through his friend and now up-and-coming rap producer Russell Simmons, Ratner began directing music videos; directed videos for Heavy D, Jodeci, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and Madonna among others
- 1990: Produced senior film "Whatever Happened to Mason Reese" and received several student awards
- 1989: Received scholarship from Steven Spielberg's company Amblin Entertainment his senior year to fund his thesis project
- 1987: Met fellow NYU student Russell Simmons who hired Ratner to direct a music video featuring Run DMC
- 1986: Moved to New York to enter NYU at the age of 16
- 1978: Made his first "movie" at eight years old with a camcorder
- Attended schools in Miami where he was a lackluster student
