In small town Alaska, a news reporter (John Krasinski) recruits his ex-girlfriend (Drew Barrymore), who is a Greenpeace volunteer to help him on a campaign to save a family of gray whales who are trapped by rapidly forming ice in the Arctic Circle. Inspired by an international effort known as "Operation Breakthrough", this is a story about one's capacity of showing humanity, love and courage towards others.
