Trying to stay awake

What I loved most: Scenes between mother and son

Rich guy goes on operation table for heart transplant and realises that anesthesia does not work on him. What transpires is him being in his subconscious where he finds out that a plot was being hatched against him by a group of medical professionals. The story was pretty interesting and had a good end to it. Have never been a fan of Hayden's and still think that his acting lacks a certain wow factor. Jessica Alba attempts to do something different by taking a role other than a goody-two shoes, bimbotic flower-vase or superhero in Awake but fails any better than Hayden. Ok, she is good to look at, full-stop! Why did I give 3 stars to acting then? Cos of Lena Olin, who plays the over-protective and smart mother. Watch to find out! If medical scenes such as splicing and cutting up bodies are not your thing, get ready and go watch on an empty stomach as there will be explicit operating scenes involving blood and guts (however minimal). Awake's not a sleeper hit but entertaining nonetheless. However, it made me feel empty after the screening (translates to "I didn't connect with the movie enough") but still a smart enough attempt.

Can Be Better

What I loved most: The Conspiracy

What I really hated: The Flow of Storyline

It is an interesting storyline but flow of the story tend to be less cohesive and far fetched. Memorable acting by Lena Olin and Terrence Howard. Jessica Alba should go back into acting her comfortable role as a hot babe or superhero, her acting in Awake is simply mediocre. At least i must say tat tis movie keeps me awake throughout de entire show.

I am awake!

What I loved most: Jessica alba

What I really hated: Too short and some scenes are too rushed

What attracted me to this movie was Jessica alba and nothing else. Jessica is becoming a rising star and she is hot in almost all her movies. I did not really pay much to any other things. The story is just okay, it needs more development and it could have more suspense. There is a twist in the end. Jessica alba makes the movie more watchable for me or I would just not bother about the movie. Some scenes seem a bit rushed and I hope there is a director's cut DVD. The running time is quite short-1 hour and 15-17 minutes, you can imagine how the director cram all the things into the short time. Overall: If you are a fan of Jessica alba, this movie would make your day. If you like suspense or medical movies, you might want to check out the story before watching. It is just average suspense movie and there is nothing more to be added given the short running length.

Decent entertainment for a movie with shyte actors

What I loved most: Lena Olin

What I really hated: Jessica Alba wet T-shirt tub scenes cut

This movie is not art, yet it's not the usual Hollywood slasher either. It is a thriller above all else; though some people have complained that it is rather predictable. Jessica Alba and Young Anakin have yet to develop any respectable acting skills, despite being in so many movies already. Still, it has good enough flow to make a good watch and it doesn't insult your intelligence. Some of the events in this movie are pretty unlikely (like the medical procedures and character turns), so I can see why most people won't call this a thinking man's horror film. In any case, it is curiously superior to most mainstream movies with such a billing and premise. Now, time to get the DVD to see what I missed at the cinema!
